The healthcare industry is evolving at a rapid pace. Through the development of newer technologies, patientcare is improving and is currently the best it has ever been. However, the rapid growth of this industry has led to the development of numerous medical devices that only prioritize functionality. Disregarding other aspects such as security and privacy, these devices are easy targets for hackers, and pose a major risk to patients’ well-being. In this paper, we discuss several security issues and challenges faced by medical device manufacturers, as well as several proposed techniques to mitigate these flaws.
